Snuggle

So this afternoon Dylan and Lindsey were fairly fussy. I needed a little break so I put them both in the bassinet to calm down. After several minutes of Lindsey screaming I went into their bedroom and found Dylan snuggled up to Lindsey. Absolutley adorable. I don't know how he could sleep so soundly with her shrieking so loud.

In Memory of My Grandpa

Last week my Grandpa Lenau Dwain Hartley passed away.
He had been suffering from cancer since October. His passing was more sudden than any of us had expected. Yesterday was his memorial service. I was not able to attend due to the young age of our twins. So I thought I would dedicate a post in his honor.

Memories of Grandpa:

The fondest memories of my grandpa are sitting around the table playing card games. He loved to play cards. As I was growing up everytime we visited with each other there was a new card game he was going to show us. He taught me cribbage, the Penny game, and most recently Backalley. Devin and I had the opportunity to play backalley with both my grandparents. Grandpa and I were partners and Devin and Grandma were. We played for hours and hours by the time we were finished Grandma and I were rolling with laughter as Grandpa had made a small mistake by stating he was going do one thing but did another and cost us the game. It may have been one of those moments you had to be there for, but it was one I will never forget because since that time he would always bring it up. It was a classic for the game. I know he never made that mistake again. He wasn't very happy about it.

Another fond memory I have of my Grandpa was the summer I spent two weeks in Oregon at his house. He loved to play golf and wanted to teach me. He was so proud to bring me to his golf club and show me how to play. He was patient when I would keep lifting my head and missing the ball. We spent a few days on that golf course. He gave me some old golf clubs to practice at home. Every once and a while he would take me to play when he visited. Although golf is not my forte and frankly I get very frustrated when I play, it was a special time for me to be with him.

The last time I had spoke to my Grandma before Grandpa passed away she said that he loved showing the twins pictures to anyone who would come into the house. Dylan's middle name is Lenau after Grandpa. I know it meant a lot to him to have his name be passed on. Dylan was named after a great man. He has a great example to live up to.

So to Grandpa... Thank you for the memories. You will be missed.

It's official

It's official... We are parents. We were initiated into true parenthood first by Dylan and then by Lindsey. Both Devin and I were initiated at different times. Mine was simply while I was changing Dylan and had a fun little shower all over my clothes. Devin's was a little more exciting running to the bathroom to clean his hands after Dylan squirted lovely mustard color poo on them. I have decided that when these little excitements happen you can truly call yourself a parent.

Dylan Lenau and Lindsey Daelyn

We have posted some pictures already of the twins but have not formally introduced them. We are now proud parents of Dylan Lenau Lucas and Lindsey Daelyn Lucas. They were born on 12/30/08. Dylan was born at 8:17 pm weighing 6lbs 15 oz and was 21 inches long. Lindsey came 4 minutes later at 8:21pm weighing 5lbs 7oz and was 19 inches long. We were able to come home from the hospital two days later on 1/1/09. It was a great way to begin the new year. Here are a few more pictures that have been taken since we have been home.

Lindsey and Dylan like to sleep close together. There are times were we have even caught Lindsey sucking on Dylan's hand while they were sleeping.

First Photos

This is Devin writing... Jenny is the blog lady around here, so I'm struggling my way through creating a post of the twins first pictures. They are healthy, happy and doing really well. Jenny will write more sometime when she has a chance. She is doing very good, recovering well and trying to eat and rest in between feedings. Here are some photos, hope you all enjoy.

Update on Babies

No babies yet! I cannot believe that we have made it this far. I am 36 weeks now. Just about full term for twins. If someone would have told me that we would be considering being induced I would have told them they were crazy. Well believe it or not I have a date set to be induced (which is Dec 30 at 6:30am). Both Devin and I are hoping that I will spontaneously go into labor but we will see what is the plan for us. Someone told me this but I can't remember who, but they are totally right... We were talking about how I can't believe the babies are still in they said that our prayers are being answered. Which made me pause and think that Heavenly Father has certainly blessed us by keeping them in and having them stay in as long as possible. These babies are sure our Miracle babies. I can't wait to meet them.

Christmas Time

Devin decided to go all out decorating our house with Christmas lights. The pictures really don't do the view justice, but it still looks beautiful.

The Late Update on Thanksgiving

For some reason I have not updated you on our Thanksgiving. We had a great Thanksgiving with good food, company and plenty of games. Instead of having the traditional turkey we had cornish game hens. They were delicious. Here are a few pictures of our dinner.

"Hot" Date

Last night I was joking with Devin about going on a hot date with me. Knowing that because of the bedrest the date would probably be me on one couch and Devin on the other. After dinner he got in his snow suit and said he was going to play with the dog outside in the 7 degree weather. About a half hour later he came in and told me to get in my warmest clothes and go outside. To my surprise he had a nice fire started and a perfect spot for me to sit. So we did have a nice time bundled up next to the warm fire. It was fun to do something other than wacthing TV.
